Compass Christian Centre Welcomes You :: Safety at Compass

Safety at Compass

Safety is always a concern so as a centre we make this our highest priority, managing the risks through use of trained staff, up-to-date equipment and clear operating procedures.

As an outdoor activity centre offering activities to younger people, we are registered with the Adventure Activity Licensing Authority and inspected each year to renew our licence which specifically covers our kayaking, climbing, gorge walking and hill walking.

Our safety record and procedures are also scrutinised by the local authorities who use us for their Schools, Community Education and Adult Learning departments to create Agency Agreements or ‘approved status'.

Our day-to-day assessment of risk includes the weather, group behaviour or even the amount of sleep that guests have had.

Our food safety is monitored by the Environmental Health Department of Perth & Kinross Council who have awarded us their “Excellent” status for the past six years.

We are approved service providers with Perth & Kinross, Aberdeenshire, Aberdeen, Angus, Dundee, Borders, Edinburgh and Highland Councils.

Outdoor Activity Clothes

Don’t allow anyone to tell you that they ‘have to have this for going to Glenshee!’ If your child has a waterproof jacket or trousers, their own boots or wellies then put them in – with the name clearly marked. Other than that we will open our kit stores to issue clothes as necessary. We have a limited supply of gloves and hats that we give out to those in greatest need. If you are skiing you really do need to bring those and there are many times of the year when they will make a difference to enjoyment.

Here’s our suggested kit list :

  • A set of warm, old clothes, (not jeans if possible), for each day here.
  • Underwear and socks: (1 pair thicker for boots)
  • Warm hat, scarf and waterproof gloves (all times of year)
  • Large, named, plastic bag for dirty clothes
  • 1 - 2 towels and wash kit: (toothbrush & toothpaste, shampoo, hairbrush, soap)
  • Nightwear (and teddy!! )
  • 2 pairs of trainers or gym shoes: (1 for outside / sports hall wear; 1 pair for indoors.)
  • Walking boots (We can provide)
  • Waterproof jacket and trousers (We can provide) Any medication, clearly named. Midge repellent / sun cream / lip salve
